I have several times spoken to him giving our day to day orders and was impressed with the level of energy he had. As I was discharged from the Hospital I personally went to the Canteen to thank him for the wonderful level of service, while meeting him I realized that Mr. Ali was blind. May God bless him in abundance! After the surgery I am free of Diabetes and my sugar levels are noted below 100. My weight before the surgery was 92 Kgs and now I am 74 Kgs. I do not take any more medicines for diabetes after the surgery and feel more energetic and am comfortable in my day to day lives. A big thank you to Dr. Padmakumar and his team for making this an amazing experience and giving me the opportunity to lead a normal life. I was just thinking,last week on this day I was in in your beautiful place at Sunrise Hospital. Earlier I have enjoyed the excellent handiwork of Dr Hafeez Rehman in many AMASI conferences but I did not know his assotiation with this hospital. It is also great to know that you actually are managing the show here in Kochi.
Really I would have missed a lot had I not attended this conference and not enjoyed so well organised, well planned & well managed a conference like this. Hospitality was great ,planning ( having live surgeries interspersed with symposium alongwith working lunch ) was excellent . The unique of your endeavour was that you concentrated mainly on hernia surgery which is so common a problem and which is so commonly avoided by majority of general laparoscopic surgeons. I learnt a lot from this conf.

Dr Nikita Trehan has successfully removed a 2.6 kgs fibroid in laparoscopically.

Mrs Rekha Nair a 40 year old lady came to us at Sunrise Hospital delhi with complaints of a large mass in her abdomen. After examining and investigating her we found that she had multiple fibroids in her uterus (womb) which were already compressing her urinary tubes (ureters) and damaging her kidneys. She had visited 9 doctors all of whom gave her the opinion that this uterus could not be removed laparoscopically as it was very large (34 weeks size) that is, it was the size of a 8 month pregnant lady's womb. Also she was told that even open surgery was high risk in her owing to her rare (AB negative) blood group and that she should make arrangements for atleast 4 units of blood before her surgery and that post operatively she would need to take 2 months off from work. At Sunrise Delhi, she was operated upon by Dr Nikita Trehan on 19th Aug 2014 and the entire surgery was sucessfully completed LAPAROSCOPICALLY. The total weight of the uterus which came out was 2.6kgs. The total blood loss in the surgery was only 100ml and hence only one unit blood was transfused to her post operatively. She is being discharged in a fit and healthy condition on 21/8/2014 and can join work on 22/8/2014 all this was made possible only by the magic of Laparoscopy and yet even simple staightforward cases are being operated even today by open surgery  (more that 90 percent cases in Delhi) due to lack of public awareness on the huge advantages of Laparoscopy over open surgery.

Miss xyz a 39 yr old unmarried egyptian lady presented to us at Sunrise Hospital with complaints of heavy menstrual bleeding leading to anaemia and a ct csan report of a large uterus studded with fibroids.This patient is due to get married in november 2014 and hence was very keen that her uterus(womb )be conserved so that she can have children in the future.Previously this patient had undergone open(cutting the whole abdomen open) myomectomy(removal of 4 to 5 fibroids in egypt in 2000 and 2006).Inview of her history of previous surgeries and with the large uterus(upto 30 weeks size)shewas advised a hysterectomy for her health by all the gynaecologists she consulted in egypt,uae and india These gynaecologists also told her that the hysterectomy could never be done by laparoscopy owing to the large size of the uterus and also becoz of her previous surgeries .But she wanted her uterus she wanted to have her own children.At Sunrise hospital delhi our team of gynaecological laparoscopists DR HAFEEZ RAHMAN,& DR NIKITA TREHAN succesfully performed her laparoscopic surgery wherein more that 200 fibroids were labouriosly removed from the uterus and the uterus was stitched back into a normal shape for her future pregnancies.Also and additional procedure called LUAL(Laproscopic uterine artery ligation from origin)was performed to prevent the recurrence of fibroids and to cause shrinkage of fibroids which may be left behind.All these 200 fibroids were then removed carefully from the body in an endobag and the larger ones were removed with the help of a morcellator.The patient totally recovered from the procedure and was discharged the next day.Although fibroids are a very common condition in women of reproductive age this variant of fibroid called as CELLULAR LEIOMYOMA where almost all the cells of the uterus are involved in fibroids is a rare condition and poses a challenge to every gynaecologist .But in safe hands even extremely difficult cases can be managed by laparoscopy today.

Let me begin with my apprehensions which I had prior coming to sunrise hospital to getting y procedure done. All those apprehensions disappeared fro my head with the warm welcome and comfort provided to me by Dr Hafeez and his team of Doctors and nurses.
I was explained of the procedure by Dr Hafeez and gave me immense confidence that I will be fine The admission process was very smooth and thanks to Ms Liji ( Marketing ) for coordinating the same including the discharge process.
Throughout my stay here the nurses in the ward were exceptionally good and caring. Whenever I needed them they responded promptly & taken care of me well.

Recently, I was admitted to Sunrise hospital at Kakkanat for undergoing CABG and spent about two weeks there as an inpatient. I write this to explain my experience there which I guess others should know, including the hospital authorities for their feedback.
My stay at the hospital had been a wonderful and entirely satisfying experience both in view of medical aspects as well as the treatment extended to me by its entire staff -- right from the team of doctors to the nursing/other medical staff such as dietitians, canteen staff, cleaning and all other supporting staff. Every one without exception I am confident to say, has been very professional, extremely friendly and very responsive to our requests and requirements all the time. No word of hesitation and/or non-cooperation ever came from anybody. Instead they were always eager to help, extremely patient to listen to our questions (sometimes maybe not so significant from the hospital’s view point) and finding solutions. I together with my family felt very glad and grateful about this and I feel it will not be out of place if I say that the hospital staff had been very professional, exceptionally good and understanding. I am sure that every patient is treated with all the care and understanding as shown to me. I wish them well in their future endeavors.
I do not really wish to single out any person for his/her help, for everyone has really been so very nice, though I will not be doing justice to me if I do not express my special feelings for Dr E. V. John and his team of doctors and other support staff who have been exceptional in their approach towards me and I am sure all other patients. I say this only because I have had more dealings with this team than other teams and hence have had a chance to know them from close.
Initially, I was told by some that this hospital would be very expensive, but my impression is that the charges are reasonable for the services one gets.
I will be very pleased to refer anyone to this hospital for treatment in future.

I also record our deep appreciation to Dr Padmakumar and Dr Madhukara Pai, for their professionalism and excellent care extended to my wife during, before and after the laparoscopy conducted on her GB on 23 January 2014. Every time we met them, their smiling faces and their reassuring explanations made us secure, and my wife felt positive and happy.
She is now back to her normal routine after the operation, and out and about; however will follow the doctors' advice on food and exercise.

With the able assistance of Dr Fariz Shams and Dr Alphy, fixed date for the removal of cyst through keyhole surgery under the care great Dr Hafeez Rahman. My / our families were anxious and desperate when we were told of this incision. But to our great luck and surprise all the doctors we got into touch including Dr R Padmakumar, made us feel that this is a simple procedure with no side effects. All the doctors assured of its 95% success rate, which proved correct when it was over. This is a letter of thank giving to Dr Hafeez Rahman.
After 3 to 4 months of consultation with several doctors at Mallya, Manipal Hospital, Bangalore and KIMS Hospital Trivandrum, all these above mentioned Doctors advised me for an open surgery and 6 months rest. But as I happened to Asianet News Channel (Doctors Live) wherein I saw Dr Hafeez and was so convincing and on a phone call I spoke to him and convinced me for a laparoscopy [ Keyhole surgery] where I had to come for Bangalore to Sunrise Hospital .
With no much procedures and almost care I got my surgery done with in few hours and was able to walk without any help after two hours of surgery. I am writing to convey my appreciation and applaud Dr Mohammed Saeed, your Urology Consultant who has to be commended for his outstanding and exceptional interpersonal skills and qualities as a Doctor for a family who has been extremely concerned about a very close relative.
Dr Saeed demonstrated considerable compassion and empathy in addition to having a calm temperament and pleasant demeanour. He was exemplary in his approach towards my Uncle (who was and is still in a lot of agony) with whose care he was involved directly and indirectly.

We would like to offer our sincere thanks and gratitude to the amazing Staff and Management of SUNRISE HOSPITAL, KOCHI, ICU Doctors and Nurses who gave such amazing care to our Mother till her last breathe.
Our Mother became ill for past few days when she went into serious illness. It has been a journey of emergency that has to be attended to, with due care and affection. For all of you who gave, the last few days of our Mother, our thanks seem so small. Our lives have forever been touched by everyone who cared for our Mother and our family during some of the most difficult times of our lives — those who rooted and cheered.

Thank you very much for your mail. I feel so comfortable and is very much happy with my life now. Last week I had met Dr Padmakumar here in Dubai. Things are really fine and is very well following the diet given by you, my diabetes and hypertensions are now normal since the surgery and not taking any medications for the same. Let me thank you and the whole sunrise group for giving me this new life. Now my weight is 98.3 kgs where I was 126.2 kgs at the time of surgery on the 12th of august 2013.

Sid got discharged from sunrise hospital early this week and he is doing fine. I had been overweight since I remember .After pregnancy I having a baby it shouted up to 97 kg. I had been in the 90’sever since. I tried all I could Ayurveda, Naturopathy, VLCC numerous slimming packages and failed miserably. And finally I decided to undergo gutter sleeve on May 17th and I must say that was a turning point in my life. Dear Managing Director,
I would like to express my thanks to all your dental team for their kindness and patience they have showed me last month when I came for my dental checkup. I have been suffering from gum bleeding and teeth ache from quite long time and have been ignoring. At the end I have decided to treat myself when I can’t bear the pain anymore and came to Sunrise Hospital on 25th July 2013 with recommendation of my sister who is working there and praise that you have a very good doctors. I came with my family as my daughter wants to clean up her teeth and it was taken care immediately by Dr Divya. She had studied my case and refers to me for full mouth x-ray and booked the other Doctors in an emergency basis as I had a very short leave. I understood that it was not an easy task for them to fix my 14 nos. teeth with cleaning, root canaling and gum surgery in short period but the self-confident, well disciplined, energetic young doctors made it on time without suffering much pain. Overall my teeth conditions are improving. I’m much happier now that depression has been cured. It's affected my everyday life, and I feel so much better now. I would like to thanks Dr Vijith, Dr Jacob, Dr Divya Sajith and Dr Jayaraj and the nurses Jaison and Ajitha who assisted for making my short visit a relatively useful one. Trust all is well your end. I have just returned back from my trip to the US of and Toronto and still getting over the jet lag. Having said this I wanted to share my experience of what I have been going thru since my surgery on Dec 4 2012.
Doctor, the best thing that could have happened to me in the last 18 years after my sons birth was this surgery. Over the 18 years my life style of travelling, eating and drinking ( includes alcohol ) led me to become a whopping 133.8 kgs. As a CEO of a company my size and looks started to affect my confidence level and way of thinking. I was unable to restrict or change my life style as my job demanded me to travel/entertain and in the name of business abuse my body. I was beginning to hit a low when during one of my travels someone mentioned to me about my size and also about this surgery. I listened and thought about it carefully and of course was skeptical of going under the knife, I also had this fear that unlike other stunts ( VLCC ) etc that I have tried and wasted so much of money, what if this too turns out a farce and that too after going under a surgeons knife ???
In October of 2013, one of my travels led me to Munich and this happened to be during the Eid holidays and my wife too joined me there. We flew the A380 ( business class ) and I am only stressing the business class for a reason. The A380, as most are aware is a wider and larger aircraft and even the seats are bigger than the normal business class. When flying earlier in the same class I was able to bring the table down from the sides and was able to dine with some degree of difficulty, this time around not only did I barely fit into the seat but I was not able to bring the table down in front of me, this because of my sheer size that I had blown myself to. The same thing happened on my return back after 4 days and this got me really worried. I was 47 years and my weight and size was getting way beyond control. If I did not take remedial action, I was heading for a disaster health wise.
When I was back in Dubai I got on to the net and started to do my research on Gastric sleeve and also on Dr Padma Kumar who came recommended. I found out that this was by far the safest and most effective way of reducing the weight and also avoiding looming health issues like diabetes and hypertension. I finally took the plunge and met up with Dr Padma Kumar in Dubai for a consultation. The consultation was very informative and I felt at ease knowing what I was getting into. Finally after undergoing preliminary tests, it was decided to have the operation on Dec 4th 2013. Before the surgery I weighed in a whopping 133.8kgs with a 50 inch waist line and a BMI of around 48 or more.
The surgery went of smoothly and Dr Padma Kumar and his assistant Dr Pai along with the rest of the team took good care of me in Cochin ( I opted for the surgery there ) and made me feel very comfortable. This was the easiest part of the whole deal. Once I returned to Dubai I was advised by Doctor to undergo a liquid diet for a month or lesser perhaps. This was the biggest challenge that I faced, my body that was used to having large amount of solids and liquids was now being fed a small amount of liquid and this kind of drained me. Just taking a shower and changing into a fresh set of clothes was a big deal, I would often take breaks while dressing up and would be literally left with no energy. I used to psyche myself up saying just a few days more and you will be fine….
Finally I switched to semi solids and then on to normal food. The best part of this whole exercise is now I eat small quantities and my stomach is able to tell me when to stop ( something I never felt earlier ). From a 50 waist, I am now down to a 34, from 133.8 kgs I now stand at 82 kgs, my BMI now stands at 26 and all my vital functions are well within the desirable levels. I could not wear jeans for the last 18 odd years and could not go and buy readymade clothes. I am now able to wear jeans ( I even wear them to office now ) and walk into any store anywhere in the world and pick up clothes. My confidence level has shot up incredibly and I do not feel shy to undertake any kind of errands. My friends and a lot of people are in awe at seeing me now and I wished I had met Dr Padma Kumar 10 years ago.
I can go on till the cows come home on how I feel and what it has done for me. I recommend this to anyone who has tried all other means and felt there is no hope. This is really nothing short of a miracle, you can eat and drink whatever you want ( but in limited quantities ), one would be a fool to over indulge and abuse your body all over again. I was in the US and Canada and I had a fantbulous time with all my friends, I ate and drank ( at times a bit more ) but corrected myself the next day and even after doing all of this, I put on only 1 kg and that too I was able to shed it all within 2-3 days of returning back.
Doctor, you are the best. May God bless you and your whole team and I hope my narration can help people make that call. You have indeed given me a second lease of life.
Last but funny, my son tells people when they ask him, what do you think of your dad now, he says I can leave KFC on the table and return after 30 mins and it will still be there untouched.
